- How much do you charge?
That’s almost always the first question people ask. If you’d like a complete price list, please use the {contact} form at the top right of the page.
Here are a few more questions that we often get:
- How do you say your name?
“Huy” sound like “we” – it’s very easy to remember.
- {love, unscripted} - that’s a very different name! Why did you choose it?
Because it’s different :) and hopefully it’s memorable like my photographs. I considered many more common studio names but they all seemed to blend in with the crowd and none summed up my wedding philosophy like {love, unscripted} – it’s a planned day but the love is real and natural.
- Why just black + white?
You mean for the site design? I love clean and simple sites that let the photographs do the talking. Also, I’d like the pages to be like museum walls on which our images proudly hang.
– So, where are you?
Last fall, we moved from Dallas to Olympia, WA so that we can live a quieter life closer to nature. We just recently bought a home within walking distance to downtown Olympia. Our new backyard has a clear view of the Washington state Capitol!
- Are you getting used to traveling to different cities to photograph weddings?
Even when I was living in Dallas, I traveled extensively to where ever I’m needed. I’ve photographed weddings in Cabo San Lucas, San Miguel de Allende, Montego Bay (Jamaica), Negril, Belize, the US Virgin Islands, New York City, New Jersey, Indianapolis, Minnesota, Iowa, Seattle, Tucson, Waco, Houston, Austin, San Antonio (and pretty much all over Texas), Alexandria (LA), New Orleans, Naples (FL), Captiva Island, Charlotte, Raleigh, Chicago, Santa Barbara, Lake Tahoe…
I usually arrive on Thursday (an extra 2 days ahead of time), attend rehearsal on Friday, photograph the wedding on Saturday, and leave on Sunday.
- How do you charge for travel?
It’s very simple – it’s all included in the fee that I quote you for your wedding coverage in your location. Your wedding coverage fee is the only number that you have to think about. I will take care of all my own travel arrangements to fulfill my contractual obligations.
- What cameras do you use?
I’ve been a Canon user for more than 20 years. But that doesn’t really matter because we all know that it’s the photographer that makes the awesome images, not the cameras.
- Do you outsource your images to be worked on by another company?
No! Except for basic RAW to JPEG conversion, I personally take care of your images – editing, color-correction, Photoshopping – from start to finish with love and care. I enjoy them too much to let someone else have all the fun with them.
- Are you an “award-winning” photographer?
Ha ha! Everyone says that about themselves. I am very honored to have been recognized by my professional peers and influential organizations in the wedding industry. Here are some of them:
- Photographer of the Year, WPJA
- Top Ten Photographer in the World (when I was with f8studio) link here
- Top 5 Wedding Photographer in the World
- featured in books and industry publications such as Rangefinder, Design Aglow
- Quick, say something witty!
OK, I’m like the Pandora of photography. Once I understand your likes, I will surprise you with photos you really really love.
- I’m loving this. Can I use this Q&A format for my site?
No problem. But if you come up with bigger and better and funnier stuff, I’m going to copy you!
- Will more questions and answers be posted here?
Of course! please check back for more….
